Would you like to boost your writing productivity alongside fellow postdocs this summer?
These new, intensive, five-day writing retreats offer a dedicated, quiet, and supportive environment in which to make real progress on your writing goals alongside a community of researchers doing the same.
Each five-day block follows a structured daily format of focused writing sessions with regular breaks, modelled on the established Writing Mondays programme.
Booking by session gives you flexibility around your other commitments. However, committing to as many sessions as possible will help you build momentum over the summer.
A new addition for the summer intensives is a 30-minute midday talk each day, covering practical tools and approaches for productive academic writing. Talk themes are repeated with fresh framing across the three retreat blocks, so attending multiple weeks is worthwhile but not necessary.
The three writing blocks with their respective booking pages are:
- Block 1, Foundations: Monday 29 June – Friday 3 July 2026
- Block 2, Going deeper: Monday 27 – Friday 31 July 2026
- Block 3, Finishing strong: Monday 24 – Friday 28 August 2026
Talk programme
Each week covers the following five themes, one per day. The themes are repeated across all three retreat blocks with fresh framing, so returning participants encounter varied perspectives on each topic.
- Effective goal setting and writing productivity.
- Managing writing blocks and procrastination.
- Tools for academic writing (reference managers, writing software, and the considered use of AI).
- Publishing strategy and journal selection.
- Accountability structures and sustaining writing momentum.
